About

I'm from Malaysia, used to only buy clothes or jewellery twice a year during special occasions like Chinese New Year and Deepavali when I was younger. Most of my fashion and beauty products were hand-me-downs and samples. I didn't have much style, really, until last year when I moved to England for university was when I began to appreciate fashion deeply and became more conscious on self-grooming.

I marvelled at the beauty and creativity of UK street fashion and it inspired me to experiment but I wasn't Victoria Beckham to spend on luxurious brands. I'm a firm believer of getting a good run for my money; why spend thousands of dollars for something similar for a lot less cheaper? Don't get me wrong, I still go gaga over designer items simply because of the meticulously crafted designs and quality as well as the designers' original ideas and sheer effort they put into concocting something beautiful. However, like me, not everyone can afford them and because trends change so quickly, it's really not worth spending an obscene amount of money just to keep up with it. I would buy brand-less items as long as they're beautiful and splurge on classic items that will never run out of style.

The challenge of looking stylish and put together in a tight budget gives me adrenaline rush and the idea of Chic Niche is here to share my frugal finds on fashion and beauty products and the occasional expensive items that gives me a good run for my money. There will also be random posts on my personal life which I will keep them relevant to Chic Niche.
